[UPDATED 2013-02-19] Performance Points in-game changes and consequences

The last Gran Turismo 5 patch, 2.10 released along the new Corvette DLC, altered many cars Performance Points, changing the game and turning the PP database into a big mess. Here's what you need to know (and how you can help).

About the game changes

It's hard to know yet how many cars has been affected by a PP change, but based on first checking, we could end near 30%.

Most PP changed have been made on FR cars (85% of FR Premium cars), and those cars end with a lower PP. This change does not affect performance in itself, but a lower PP leads to allow more car parts installation prior participation to an event or online race where PP is limited. This means that those cars with lower PP are now more competitive.


Consequences on

Keep in mind that this change doesn't affect cars specs. But for PP, all values have to be checked. Whether a PP has been checked or not can be seen on carlist and on each car page :

- Carlist : if the PP value is faded, it has not been checked yet. If the PP change has been confirmed (this information will apply almost exclusively to Premium cars because former PP values for Standard aren't precise enough)

- Car's pages : an explicit message above the PP value appeared. Also, unless the car has been tagged as "not changed", the PP data posted by users prior to patch will be enclosed by parentheses, PP(710).

But that's not all : the PP ("PP ini" here) now match Power and Torque conventional state, which means the value displayed should be the one you get on a car after 300 km (186 mi.) run in and oil change.


Can i help?

Yes, a lot: on the left column of each car page, you can open a correction form, where you simply need to type "PP ini", plus car mileage (km) if not equal to 0, and car state if the car is in your garage and you've made oil change or engine overhaul. Once you post your data, the website server take care of some calculation to try to match the underlying PP Ini value of the car. That wasn't the case before today: don't be surprised to see a different value than the one you've just posted ;-)


- If you own 0 km cars without any maintenance, you can simply type PP ini value, and left km and state blank.

- If you see a car listed in the Used Car Dealership, enter PP value AND km value, leaving state field blank.


Sorry if that sounds a bit over-complicated, but that's how the game has been made.
